About the Bicycle Man

Mr. Mathis' work with the community started in 1990, when he became tired of watching his community, Tiffany Pines, become filled with drugs and other criminal activities.  Understanding that something positive had to be done, with the help of his wife, Ann Mathis, he formed the Community Outreach Center with all of the programs listed here on this web site.  He became involved with the neighborhood kids, touching their lives not only with the hundreds of bikes he gives to them yearly, but also, by giving them his personal time and becoming a role model and father figure.

Outside of his busy schedule with the Community Outreach Center and his church, Mr. Mathis is host of two radio programs on WIDU 1600 AM.  Each Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM he can be heard on the show Community Spotlight where he interviews those with a positive impact on the community.  On each Saturday and Sunday night from 10:00 to 12:00 midnight he is master of ceremonies of a two hour gospel program.

This humanitarian's influence on his community is reflected in the powerful and numerous awards that he has received over the years for his work.
